Last winter I was in Finland and we travelled up to the beautiful and extremely small Inari. Inari sits on the shores of Inari Lake which freezes solid in the winter, so much so that trucks can drive on the lake surface. This is a photo slide show of Ice Fishing on Lake Inari.

Being a mother of four, I have been given a lot of advise by caring family members and friends over the years. In this article I tell one of the best pieces of advice I ever received, and guess what it was from my mother of course!

A child not only need to be in a safe environment, he also needs to be in an environment where he is free to move around and express himself with out fear of damaging property or breaking anything precious. If these accidents happen it is the parents fault/responsibility, as we are the ones putting the kids in their surroundings. Read more about this idea in my article:

Local Traditional Sauna in Helsinki

Before embarking on a trip to Finland I did a lot of research on the net, and asked a lot of questions on the Trip Advisor forum. I was searching for something to do in Finland that was unique and unusual, something locals do and that is not touristy. Many suggested having a Finish sauna, which could be had at any hotel or health centre. But that seemed too much like the kind of sauna I could get anywhere else in the world. In the end someone suggested the sauna I describe in this article. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip, and an unforgettable experience not to be missed.
