Planning a bar mitzvah starts with deciding if you are going to have the bar mitzvah in a synagogue (temple) or in a celebration hall, restaurant or other venue. Then you have to decide if you are going to make it religiously meaningful or just one big birthday party! There is also the option of taking the whole family on a trip to Israel for the bar mitzvah and to the Wailing Wall.
