Bar Mitzvah Extras

You can make you son's bar mitzvah party extra special by adding something special, here are a few ideas tried and tested and sure to make your bar mitzvah event extra special.

Planning a Bar Mitzvah

Planning a bar mitzvah starts with deciding if you are going to have the bar mitzvah in a synagogue (temple) or in a celebration hall, restaurant or other venue. Then you have to decide if you are going to make it religiously meaningful or just one big birthday party! There is also the option of taking the whole family on a trip to Israel for the bar mitzvah and to the Wailing Wall.

Here are my words of wisdom on the subject of bar mitzvah planning and where to start.

Jewish Bar Mitzvah Articles

Having lived in Israel for a while a week doesn't go by when we are not invited to or involved in a bar mitzvah party or a bat mitzvah celebration this has afforded me plenty of experience and knowledge in the subject.

Having also hosted several bar mitzvah I decided to share my bar mitzvah ideas and bar mitzvah tips with you Jewish Mamas!

Many people go to Israel to celebrate their son's bar mitzvah and bar mitzvah parties in Israel are extremely different to what you may encounter in the US or UK, so in this article I have laid down the timeline of a typical Israeli bar mitzvah. There is a set order of events at a bar mitzvah party in Israel and the celebration halls make a killing on all the eager families wanting to keep up with the Cohans.

This is all you need to know about planning a bar mitzvah in Israel.

Unique Bar Mitzvah Celebration Idea

Bar Mitzvot have turned into major theatrical productions, involving whole teams to orchestrate them, and some where along the line the essential word "Mitzvah" has been tossed aside. A Mitzvah is a good deed, the act of giving. This article describes a Bar Mitzvah where the boy in question actually performs Mitzvot in honor of the important people in his life, and then tells about his mitzvot during the ceremony. This is a unique approach to the coming of age event, and an approach which, as far as I know, has only ever been done once:
